John Travolta And His Son Ben Were All Smiling As They Showcased Their New Furry family MemberThe 11-year-old, who looked so grown up as he held up their puppy, is shared by the doting father and his late wife, Kelly Preston.
On Monday, John, 68, posted the cutest photo to his Instagram page, boasting a new pal. “Ben adopted this dog from last night’s Oscar tribute to Betty White,” he wrote, standing above his son in a black shirt and beard.
Ben was dressed in a tank top and had short brown hair, freckles, and a smile on his face as he held up his new puppy. “Thank you so much, @curtisleejamie and @pawworks,” John said.
Jamie Lee Curtis, who was tagged in John’s post, did indeed walk out with the cute critter during the In Memoriam segment at the 2022 Oscars. “The greatest gift you could give Betty White is to open your heart and your home and adopt a rescue dog like Mac-N-Cheese from Paw Works,” Jamie Lee said during her speech.
She was holding the adorable brown-furred puppy known as Mac-N-Cheese. “So thank you, Betty, for being a friend to us all,” Jamie Lee said of the late Golden Girls star, who died in 2021, referring to the show’s theme song.
After Jamie Lee urged viewers to adopt rescues, it appeared that John and his son did so. Sharon Stone commented on John’s post with heart emojis, “Yay, you buddy, Just you.” “I couldn’t love it any more,” one fan exclaimed. “Thank you for adopting,” a third wrote.
John’s four-legged new family member, named Betty White, arrives after his own mountain of misfortunes. Ben is one of the late Kelly’s three children, the eldest of whom is Ella, 21; previously, the eldest was the late Jett. Jett, the couple’s eldest son, died in 2009 after having a seizure at the family’s Bahamas vacation home.
“Nobody should have to lose a child,” Kelly said at the time. It’s incomprehensible.
Kelly died on July 12, 2020, 11 years later, after a two-year secret battle with breast cancer. She was 57 years old. Just three months after Kelly’s untimely death, John was dealt another blow when his nephew, Sam Travolta Jr., died at his home in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin – he used to brag about being a “struggling screenwriter” who needed John’s help. Ben appears on John’s Instagram page from time to time, including on New Year’s Eve 2021 and Christmas 2021. John shared a cute video of himself, the child, and Ella kicking it in bed while reading a book.
In the caption of a November 2021 photo with Ben, who had longer strawberry blonde hair at the time, John wrote: “Happy birthday, my handsome son. Your father adores you.”
In keeping with their tradition of posting holiday-themed photos, the father and son posed for a selfie on the beach on Halloween.
Benjamin smiled as his now-bald father snapped the photo as the sunset. In the caption, John wrote: “Everyone has a Happy Halloween! What was your favorite Halloween candy bar when you were a kid?”
