John Cena, along with Zac Efron and Jermaine Fowler, has been cast in award-winning filmmaker Peter Farrelly’s upcoming comedy Ricky Stanicky. Farrelly’s comeback to humor has already begun with production in Melbourne, Queensland, Australia. It’s a Prime Video production that will be available on their streaming platform.
Jennifer Salke, the president of Amazon and MGM Studios, said in a statement:

Our Prime Video customers across the globe are in for a little of mischief and a lot of laughter thanks to Peter’s experience and what are likely to be hilarious performances from our amazing ensemble lead by Zac Efron, John Cena, and Jermaine Fowler.”
Farrelly published a comment as well, saying:
“I’d want to thank Amazon, as well as Paul Currie, Thorsten Schumacher, and John Jacobs, for bringing Ricky Stanicky to life. For many years, this has been a dream project of mine, but having a cast this incredible makes the wait more than worthwhile.”

Jermaine Fowler was also cast in the Farrelly Brothers comedy. The actor has been in Hulu’s comedy The Drop, with Dakota Johnson in Am I Okay, in Prime Video’s Eddie Murphy smash Coming 2 America, The Blackening, Judas and the Black Messiah, Superior Donuts, and in 2018’s Sorry to Bother You. Ricky Stanicky’s ensemble also features Zac Efron, who most recently appeared in Farrelly’s Apple TV+ original film The Greatest Beer Run Ever. He will also participate in the thriller The Iron Claw, as well as the rom-com A Family Affair, with Nicole Kidman and Joey King.
