Joe Gatto

Joe Gatto revealed on New Year’s Eve that he and his wife, Bessy Gatto, were parting amicably. Posting a black-and-white image of himself up on stage, he also disclosed he was quitting Impractical Jokers. Gatto justified his decision to quit Impractical Jokers, noting he was concentrating more of his emphasis on his children. “I need to concentrate on being the greatest father and co-parent to our two amazing kids.”

The comedian also commented on how much the prank reality series meant to him. Gatto said Sal Vulcano, Brian Quinn, and James Murray were his most important non-family friends. He said he had faith in The Tenderloins to make the world laugh despite leaving Impractical Jokers. Gatto ended his statement on a positive note, saying he’d keep making people laugh even without the show. “As I work through my challenges, I hope to amuse you.”

Gatto’s wife, Bessy, also broke the news of their separation on Instagram. She explained that she and Gatto were no longer in a relationship, but they would still handle motherhood together. The two had married in 2013. While the facts of how they began dating aren’t known, Gatto and his wife have been together for over a decade. Following their marriage, Gatto and his wife had their first child together, daughter Milana, in 2015. Their family of three expanded greater when Bessy gave birth to their son Remington in 2017.

Besides two children, Gatto and Bessy are also responsible for the six dogs they have adopted — Spumoni, Biscotti, Tartufo, Napoleon, Pignoli, and Cannoli. Bessy said in her post that she and Gatto would continue assisting animals and rescuing canines together. The pair have often pushed for the ‘Adopt, Don’t Shop’ program. She labels herself as a “Dog parent” on Instagram. She is also a member of the Rescue Ball Committee of the NYC Second Chance Rescue group.

‘Impractical Jokers’ without Joe Gatto

The Tenderloins released a statement on Instagram after Gatto left Impractical Jokers. Quinn admitted he and his staff were upset by Gatto’s departure. Despite the vacation, he said they will continue making their show to “keep making people laugh, keep working with our employees who we consider family.”

Quinn also mentioned that the remaining three members would go back to create new episodes of their program in January 2022. Their concert came about when the four members of The Tenderloins reconnected after graduation. They had gotten acquainted while they attended Monsignor Farrell High School and established their improv and sketch comedy ensemble in 1998.
