James Brien Comey is a well-known American lawyer who served as the 7th Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 2013 until his dismissal in 2017. From 2002 to 2003, Comey served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York under President George W. Bush. Comey was the 31st United States Deputy Attorney General from December 2003 to August 2005.

James Brien Comey was born in Yonkers, New York on December 14, 1960. He is the son of J. Brien Comey, a corporate real estate agent, and Joan Marie, a computer consultant and homemaker.
In the early 1970s, his family relocated to Allendale, New Jersey. E attended Allendale’s Northern Highlands Regional High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in religion and chemistry from the College of William and Mary in 1982.
He earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Chicago Law School in 1985. Comey and his brother were victims of a home invasion in 1977 by “The Ramsey Rapist,” a criminal gang. His siblings’ names are Peter, Christopher, and Patricia Comey.
