Jim Barnett’s NBA career started when the Boston Celtics picked him as the eighth overall choice in the 1966 NBA Draft. He subsequently spent three seasons with the Warriors (from 1971 to 1974) and five more teams over his 11-year career, including the San Diego Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Jazz, New York Knicks, and Philadelphia 76ers. Barnett tried a hurried long-range shot against the rival Los Angeles Lakers while playing for the Trail Blazers in 1971.
