Jessica Mendoza began her career as a First Team All-American and All-Pac-10 selection in 1999. She, on the other hand, became the conference’s sensation-bagging Newcomer of the Year. She eventually batted and broke Cardinal records for average and RBI totals, eventually ranking top-10 in hits. Similarly, she was named National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Week.

In her sophomore season, she was named to the NCAA Division I and Pac-10 First Teams once more. Moving on, she was named conference Player of the Year, advancing her to the NCAA tournament.
