Myasthenia gravis: Causes, Symptoms, and Prevention
Myasthenia gravis (MG) causes muscle weakness and tiredness that is not controlled by the patient. A disruption in the normal communication between nerves and muscles may result in MG. MG is more frequent in women under the age of 40 and males over the age of 60. Muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, double vision or diplopia, difficulty speaking, swallowing and chewing issues, and changes in facial expressions are all common symptoms. Children are occasionally born with an uncommon type of myasthenia gravis known as congenital myasthenic syndrome, according to specialists. A myasthenic crisis, thymus gland tumors, an underactive or hyperactive thyroid, and autoimmune diseases may all result from the sickness. There is no permanent treatment for myasthenia gravis.
