Jeremiah Green Announced That He Is Diagnosed With Stage 4 Cancer

Jeremiah Green

Jeremiah Green, the founding member of the rock band Modest Mouse, has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Carol Namatame, the drummer’s mother, revealed her son’s condition in a recent Facebook post. However, it is unclear from the text what kind of disease the artist is afflicted with.

Namatame wrote in the post:

“Please send healing energy to my son, Jeremiah Green, who is fighting stage 4 cancer. He’s so strong and courageous, and he’s hanging in there!”

In addition, renowned Seattle radio personality DJ Marco Collins revealed Green’s diagnosis and announced that Mouse would no longer be on tour. In a Facebook post, he stated:

“Just heard out my buddy Jeremiah Green (Modest Mouse) has dropped from the band’s tour since he is presently receiving chemo treatments to beat Stage 4 Cancer. Despite his stage 4 diagnosis, his prognosis is favorable! His oncologist is also a major MM fan (so he’s got that going for him!) I’m sending him only love and healing energies! Get better soon, friend. “Everyone is rooting for you!”

Jeremiah Green and vocalist Isaac Brock co-founded Modest Mouse.

Jeremiah Green, along with singer Isaac Brock and bassist Eric Judy, was a founding member of Modest Mouse in 1993. When he was suffering from mental health concerns, the artist briefly departed the band in 2003. On the suggestion of his bandmate and frontman, Isaac Brock, he was taken to a mental hospital for six hours at the time. Green talked to NME last year about the release of their album, The Golden Casket. The artist, who had also had a difficult upbringing, told the publication:

“What truly saved me was Isaac watching out for me… Isaac was one of the few persons who was aware of my situation.”

Except for Modest Mouse’s second album, Good News For People Who Like Bad News, which was recorded during his absence in 2003 and sold 1.5 million copies in the US, Jeremiah Green has featured on every subsequent album. The drummer is married to Lauren Green, with whom he has a son, Wilder, born in 2016.

Jeremiah Green will not be appearing on Modest Mouse’s current tour.

The band announced its 2022 tour earlier this year, which they just finished. The tour commemorated the 25th anniversary of the band’s iconic album, The Lonesome Crowded West. Green was on the tour for the first few shows but had to cancel due to his illness. Next year, the band will appear at a number of events, including Lollapalooza and the Festival Estereo Picnic.
