Jeffree Star Stated That James And Tati Scandal Ruined The Beauty Community

Jeffree Star

On June 15, 2022, Jeffree Star, YouTube’s richest cosmetics artist, spoke on Logan Paul’s podcast Impaulsive. Star covered anything from hooking up with Kanye West and pro players (NBA, NFL, Golf) to living in Wyoming with 100 firearms and 1000 yaks. He also discussed the demise of the YouTube beauty community, known as Dramageddon 2.0, which happened in 2019. Star, YouTube conspiracy theorist and documentarian Shane Dawson, and beauty experts Tati Westbrook and James Charles were at the heart of the drama.

In a YouTube video titled ‘Bye Sister,’ Westbrook made claims against her former buddy and protégé, Charles.
Westbrook alleged in the video that Charles had been predatory against other adolescent guys who did not identify as homosexual. The claims were damning, prompting Charles to lose thousands of followers and large advertising agreements overnight. Following that, Charles published a video titled ‘No More Lies,’ in which he explained everything in detail using real facts.

Tati’s statements were also corroborated by Star, who claimed to have knowledge of Charles’ predatory conduct. Unfortunately, he never provided any proof to back up his assertions and subsequently said that he didn’t know whether they were real. On June 30, 2022, Westbrook reappeared on YouTube after a year-long sabbatical after the ‘Bye Sister’ controversy, alleging that everything she had written about Charles was poisoned falsehoods provided to her by Dawson and Star.

Following the release of Westbook’s video, Dawson and Star went on a social media rampage about how the beauty expert was lying. Unfortunately, netizens began searching the internet for Dawson’s previous poor conduct and discovered racist and pedophilic tweets. Dawson lost over a million YouTube subscribers and a billion views after being forced to erase outdated footage.

He subsequently apologized in a video and removed himself from social media. Netizens likewise attempted to cancel Star, and he, too, disappeared from social media. Star said on the Impaulsive show that the YouTube beauty community was “basically dead” due to the volatility and toxicity. He also said that individuals sought to discredit him.

“People were horrible, and they wanted to villainize me because I and Shane had the most successful and largest launch in cosmetics history, and people became furious at how successful we got and attempted to bring us down,”

Star said. He went on to say that the “James and Tati” saga destroyed the beauty community and harmed him emotionally.

Jeffree Star’s Autobiography Will Address the Drama

In the podcast, Star divulged nothing about the drama, but fans may read his account of Dramageddon 2.0 in his book. The YouTuber addressed the condition of his brand market and autobiography in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily while promoting his new skincare line. Star indicated in his new book that he would reflect on his interpretation of the Dramageddon.

“I believe there was a tipping point with the Dramageddon events and these things that just made the beauty community and business odd,” he said.

He stated that he was unaware of how or when the incident occurred, but that he was writing a book and telling the truth from his perspective. Star thought it was refreshing to see individuals interested in facts and knowledge rather than drama.
