Janis was picked by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round, 236th overall, in the 2014 NFL Draft. He is the first Cardinal from Saginaw Valley State to be picked since offensive guard Todd Herremans in 2005. Similarly, he is the first wide receiver in school history to be picked, but his early involvement on the squad was more on special teams than at wide receiving.
Janis had a breakthrough game against the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC divisional playoff game on January 16, 2016. He hauled in seven catches for 145 yards and two scores. It contained Aaron Rodgers’ 41-yard Hail Mary throw on the last play of regulation, which sent the game into overtime. The Packers, on the other hand, were defeated 26-20 in overtime. He gained 101 yards in the game-tying drive from start to finish; he also grabbed a 60-yard catch on 4th and 20 from the Packers’ 4-yard line to set up the tying touchdown. On August 10, 2016, Janis broke at least one of the bones in his right hand during a ball-security practice during Packers training camp.
