Charleston studied at Independence, Oregon’s Central High School. Then, he earned letters in football and basketball for three years. Charleston has three seasons of playing experience at Division II Western Oregon, and when he was a sophomore, he was selected twice for the All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference team. Later, he made the decision to transfer, and he picked Idaho State University for both academic and athletic reasons.
