- Adams began his career as a striker with Entente BFN in 1967, where he finished runner-up in the Championnat de France Amateur twice. He signed a contract with Nîmes in 1970 and went on to play in Division 1 for the next nine seasons, also representing Nice and Paris Saint-Germain.
- Adams made his France national team debut on June 15, 1972, in an unofficial exhibition game against an African XI selected by the Confederation of African Football. His first competitive appearance came on October 13, 1974, in a 1–0 home victory over the Soviet Union in the 1974 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
- Adams’ 22nd appearance came on September 1, 1976, in a friendly against Denmark. During his time with Les Bleus, he formed La garde noire, a stopper partnership with Marius Trésor.
