Jamie Otis ultimately found love on the first season of Married at First Sight in 2014, after seeking it throughout season 16 of The Bachelor in 2012 and season 3 of Bachelor Pad. On the reality show, Otis met her husband, Doug Hehner, and they married at first sight. The couple subsequently appeared in the sequel Married at First Sight: The First Year. They have been upfront about the challenges in making their marriage work throughout their relationship. Six months after Otis revealed her pregnancy, the couple welcomed their baby daughter, Henley Grace, in August 2017.
Their kid was born a little more than a year after they had their first loss in July 2016. Otis finally spoke out about it three years later, in 2019. In an Instagram post, she said she experienced a miscarriage at 17 weeks. “I remember this day well. The agony was an out-of-body sensation. “I felt anguish in my SOUL,” she said in the post.
Jamie Otis and Her Husband’s Marriage Problems
Aside from being open about their devastating loss, they also discussed a “difficult patch” they had during an episode of their Hot Marriage. Dr. Gertrude Lyons, a life counselor, visits Cool Parents. The Wifey 101 author said that she had difficulties trusting her spouse because of previous falsehoods he told her.
Because of the pressures of parenting and the current coronavirus epidemic, Otis felt she was prone to “opening old wounds.”
“When you’re anxious, you lose your capacity to remain calm. I’m stuck in a rut here, and I’m pleading for assistance in every facet of my life… “I’m furious, sad, and upset, and I’m at a loss for words,” she added.
The life coach encouraged her, suggesting that talking about her difficulties was a triumph. Otis also acknowledged having suicidal thoughts and seeking therapy for her mental health. She went on to say that she and her husband were working on their marriage and that she wasn’t sure about their future at the conclusion of the episode.
Jamie Otis suspected her husband of cheating on her.
The pair made news again in December 2021, only a few months after she spoke out about her marital problems. According to Us Weekly, Otis once suspected Hehner of cheating on her after discovering women’s underwear in her wardrobe that did not belong to her.
“Then I discovered a pair of panties in my closet that was not mine, which pushed me over the edge because I was like, ‘What?'” And I travel a lot for business and other reasons, so I was like, ‘Is this something?'” she said.
She also said that she was perplexed at the moment since she had just returned from a ladies’ vacation when they all shared the same laundry. Because of her suspicion, the pair sought marital therapy and informed the outlet that they were still working through it.
The pair seems to have made some headway, as she said in an Instagram post on March 27, 2022, on their seventh wedding anniversary, that they were “not giving up on each other.” The pair also expressed gratitude to their therapists for assisting them in making their marriage work.
