Julie Dixon is the family’s non-athletic sister. Julie, a San Francisco State University graduate, has worked as an attorney in Los Angeles. Following Maggie’s death, Julie and Jamie established the Maggie Dixon Foundation, which hosts heart health fairs in Pittsburgh and Madison Square Garden. There is also an annual Maggie Dixon Classic, a one-day tournament involving some of the finest women’s teams in the country. Maggie Dixon Courage Award and Maggie Dixon Division 1 Rookie Coach of the Year Award are both named after her.
Jamie Dixon’s Family Coach Jamie Dixon’s ancestors come from Ireland. His grandpa John fled County Mayo, Ireland, for Pittsburgh to escape poverty. At Duquesne University, John began working in construction and met the love of his life, Bridget Coyne. Jamie’s family eventually relocated to the Bronx, New York, where Jamie’s father, Jim, grew up. Jim Dixon worked as a full-time actor and screenwriter, appearing in over 50 films. He married Marge Dixon, and the couple had three children, the eldest of whom was Jamie.
Jamie got the chance to appear in national television ads since his father worked in the entertainment business. Jamie said in an interview that he was still a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
