James Buster Corley, the co-founder of Dave and Busters, died recently at the age of 72. Dave & Busters is a well-known restaurant franchise with 151 locations in the United States and two in Canada. On January 2, James’s body was found at his home. While policemen raced to his home in Dallas, Texas, the circumstances suggested that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
His daughter Kate disclosed to WFAA that James had a stroke four months ago that damaged the communication and personality portions of his brain. She went on to say that the family requires privacy when grieving the death of a loved one. Dave and Busters also expressed their sorrow, adding that James’ enthusiasm for hospitality, drive for quality, and concern for the rest of the team members all contributed to the chain’s success. According to a business spokesperson:
“Our thoughts are with his family at this terrible time, and although we will miss his wise advice and easy chuckle, the legacy he and Dave established will live on.”

Dave and Busters were started in Dallas in 1982.
Dave and Busters’ adventure began in 1982, and David Corriveau, along with James, was the other founder. By 1997, the restaurant company had opened a few locations around the nation, as well as a few additional locations where Jillian’s had operated. Oak Hill Capital Partners purchased the firm in 2010. They continued on their profitable path until the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, which severely devastated all restaurant companies worldwide. Sales were impacted, but the business recovered the following year. When the first restaurant debuted in 1982, Corriveau was in charge of entertainment and gambling, while Corley was in charge of food and beverage.
While other restaurant chains were striving to dazzle guests with their culinary choices, the firm gained prominence in the 1990s for its gaming facilities. They were most known for activating games using a Power Card, although the firm eventually switched to regular tokens. On certain occasions, Dave & Busters has acquired prominence for providing sports watching on enormous TVs. In 2015, they even created a smartphone app where customers could play games of their choosing at the stores.
The restaurant’s cuisine and beverage menu have also been positively praised. Pasta, burgers, desserts, and other foods are on the menu. The firm also has a restriction that visitors under the age of 21 must be accompanied by a guardian and are only permitted to remain until 10 p.m. They have supported the Ultimate Fighting Championship, World Wrestling Entertainment, the San Jose Sharks, and other organizations.
