Career
Jack began his career as the drummer for the Detroit band Goober & the Peas at the age of 19 and remained in that position till the band disbanded in 1996. He learned about traveling and live performances. After the band broke up, he settled into a day job as an upholsterer while moonlighting in local bands. He also did solo performances. Jack and his wife Meg began their careers in Michigan’s underground garage rock music scene.
In 1998, Dave Buick signed The White Stripes to Italy Records, a tiny and independent Detroit-based garage punk label. The band was given the opportunity to release its eponymous first album in 1999, and a year later, the cult classic, De Stijl, was published. In 2001, the band released White Blood Cells.
