Jeffrey Jacob Abrams was born in New York on June 27, 1966. Abrams’ parents are executive producer Carol Ann Abrams and television producer Gerald W. Abrams. Abrams’ father was a producer of made-for-television movies, and the younger Abrams followed in his footsteps by creating short Super-8 films as a child. At the age of 16, Abrams earned his first work in the film business, scoring the low-budget science-fiction picture Nightbeast (1982).
He attended Palisades High School. After high school, Abrams planned to attend art school rather than a traditional college, but she instead enrolled at Sarah Lawrence College.
