Brancato and Steven Armento, the father of Brancato’s ex-girlfriend, were arrested in December 2005 while committing a “burglary.” However, reports indicate that his girlfriend remained committed to him despite his difficulties. He met his girlfriend during Brancato’s prime acting years. The couple developed an attraction and eventually began dating. The actor was heavily into drugs at the time, but despite his prison sentence and drug addiction, his girlfriend stayed by his side and awaited his return. And when he returned, the actor moved in with her in Yonkers, sparking speculation that he would seduce her into becoming his wife. However, there has been no confirmation that Chen became his wife, and reports indicate that he is currently single. The actor is coy about his intentions to marry Chen, but he has explained how a tragic incident in 2005 altered his life forever.

The Robert De Niro impersonator shared his side of the story during his appearance on the Street Gospel podcast. According to reports, he and Armento attempted to break into a home and came across off-duty NYPD police officer Daniel Enchautegui. Armento ultimately shot and killed the officer. He was found guilty of murder in the first degree and sentenced to life in prison. Meanwhile, Brancato was convicted of attempted burglary in the first degree and sentenced to ten years in prison. However, Brancato asserts that the media exaggerated the incident and that the truth differed from how it was portrayed.

He clarified that they were not making an attempt at burglary. He and his partner were attempting to steal drugs from the home of Kenny Scovotti, whom Brancato had known for years. Although he broke the window at 3119 Arnow Place, he did not consider it a burglary because he knew Scovotti would not mind. “I was in dire straits.” I was on crack and heroin at the time, “he explained. He explained that because he hadn’t seen Scovotti in five years prior to that night, he was unaware of his friend’s death that summer. Unfortunately for Enchautegui, he heard the window break, and that was the beginning of the end. Brancato and Armento attempted to flee but were shot by the officer. Armento retaliated by shooting Enchautegui, killing him.
