Duff McKagan, a former member of Guns N’ Roses, has married his wife, Susan Holmes, for almost two decades. The couple has two daughters together. McKagan and his wife have discussed their relationship on several occasions. Many people have speculated on why the couple’s marriage has lasted so long. And, as the two of them have said, one of the primary reasons is trust.
When asked how he stayed true to Holmes while on tour and avoided the temptations of groupies, McKagan answered he could never do that to his wife. “To be honest, it never crosses my mind.
“I could never do it to my wife, for starters,” he said. “And that’s not even a circumstance where I have to consider it. It doesn’t even cross my head.” Holmes has also spoken out on the subject, stating that she and McKagan have great trust and regard for one another. She went on to say that every relationship required a lot of effort. “Like any relationship, you must constantly put back into it and not sit on your laurels.”

McKagan met Holmes in 1996 when a friend paired them up on a blind date. Initially, Holmes was hesitant to pursue her connection with McKagan, one of his day’s most fantastic rock performers. She also said she had asked him if she could pick him up at his home rather than the other way around since she wasn’t sure whether she wanted him to know her address. “It’s weird looking back because he’s far from that,” she remarked of her first impressions of him. “He’s the epitome of a gentleman.”

In August 1997, McKagan and Holmes had their first child together, daughter Grace “Grave” Elizabeth, a year into their relationship. The couple married on August 28, 1999, after two years of dating. Their household of three extended by one when Holmes gave birth to daughter Mae Marie in July 2020. Grace, their elder daughter, is following in McKagan’s footsteps. Several of her songs and music videos, including ‘One You Love,’ ‘Baby That’s Rock N Roll,’ and ‘So Hyper,’ have been published on her YouTube account. In addition to pursuing a music career, McKagan stated in November 2021 that Grace was studying to become a CorePower Yoga teacher. Mae, their daughter, is a full-time student and part-time model.
Maintaining the Romance
McKagan and Holmes have both spoken up about how they maintain their connection. Aside from genuine trust and respect, Holmes emphasized that it was critical to give each other space.

“Of course,” she continued, “we love each other’s company.” “But he needs to go on tour, and I’m working on my own projects.”
Another factor that Holmes believed aided their connection was the ability to travel extensively. She said that a change of environment is beneficial to a relationship and that it helps to keep the passion alive.
