After almost six months after Virgil Abloh’s death, Off-White has appointed Ib Kamara as the brand’s art and image director. On April 30, 2022, Off-White announced Ib Kamara’s employment through an Instagram post from their official account. The firm went on to explain Ibrahim’s connection with the late Virgil Abloh.
Off White’s Ceo stated her thoughts on the new collaboration in a news release:
“Having Ibrahim on board, who has been a member of the Off-White family for years styling our shows, to supervise the brand’s art and creative in this new stage is a wonderful pleasure.” We are excited to embark on the new chapter of Off-White with his skill and vision, always remembering the innovative innovation and principles that Virgil had at heart and that are at the heart of our brand.”

In 1990, Ibrahim Kamara, sometimes known as Ib Kamara or I.B., was born in Sierra Leone. He spent three years focused on his studies to become a doctor in accordance with his parents’ wishes. But he quickly changed his mind and decided to pursue a career in fashion. As a result, at the age of 16, he moved to London. He majored in fashion communication at Central Saint Martins and art and design at Westminster Kingsway College. He also suffers dyslexia, which he discusses publicly in interviews.
Kamara’s fashion philosophy is founded on gender fluidity, identity, queerness, and exploration. He also expresses his Blackness and African identity via his beliefs. Kamara began his fashion career as an assistant stylist for Barry Kamen. The Sierra Leonean was initially noticed for his abilities in 2016, when he organized the exhibition 2026 in London, which concentrated on the concept of African manhood. He was subsequently introduced to Dazed’s Robbie Spencer, who gave Kamara his fashion feature in the magazine. He was a favorite of the late Virgil Abloh as a stylist and journalist. The latter saw a version of himself in Kamara and cited him as an example of how “diversity” can bring forth the best in the fashion business.
London-based Kamara is well-known not just for his fashion sense, but also for his journalism profession. He is the editor-in-chief of Dazed and has previously worked as the fashion editor-at-large for i-D. He has worked with and with several fashion houses and brands, including Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Lorenzo Serafini, Erdem, and others. Previously, Kamara received the Isabelle Blow Award at the British Fashion Council’s The Fashion Awards.
