Career
In terms of his career, he left school at 16 and worked as an NHS writer before joining the Warriors, an Accrington sextet led by Jon Anderson. After touring West German clubs and US bases, the group returned to the UK and recorded a flop single for Decca, Don’t Make Me Blue. They did, however, appear in the pop B-movie Just For You (1964). The group then split in 1966.
Before joining King Crimson, he was a member of Vivian Stanshall’s Big GrunT and The World with Neil Innes. He appeared on the 1971 album Islands and the 1972 live album Earthbound. However, at the conclusion of a tour in the United States in May 1972, he and fellow Crimson members Mel Collins and Boz Burrell left the band and went to work for Alexis Korner’s Snape.
Wallace then collaborated with Steve Marriott’s All-Stars. He was invited to join Bob Dylan’s band in 1978, and he accompanied Dylan on his tour of Japan. His heavy drum style was the driving force behind the ambitious pop-heavy album Street-Legal.
Furthermore, he relocated to Nashville as a successful musician in the late 1990s. He worked as a producer and player there. He did, however, conduct live performances with T.Graham Brown, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, Rick Vito, Jessi Alexander, and Billy Burnette.
In addition, he joined the 21st Century Schizoid Band in 2003 and released his only solo album, Happiness With Minimal Side Effects. He formed the Crimson Jazz Trio in 2005, with Tim Landers on bass and Jody Nardone on piano, and they released King Crimson Songbook Volume One in November 2005 and Volume Two in early 2009.
