Hesham Selim, a well-known Egyptian actor, died on September 22, 2022, at the age of 64. Selim has been battling cancer for a long time. Ashraf Zaki, the President of the Egyptian Actors Guild and a longtime friend of Selim’s, broke the news on social media. Many more proceeded to pay respect to Selim after viewing his Instagram post. According to Zaki, Selim’s burial would be placed in the Greater Cairo area of Sheikh Zayed, where he used to reside.

“Thank God, I’m okay, and everything will be alright.” And maybe these days, having cancer is better than getting Covid or any of the other infections that kill in three days. Whatever God gives is wonderful, and I am doing well right now.”

The career of Hesham Selim in the entertainment business

Hesham Selim, born on January 27, 1958, graduated from the College de la Sainte Famille. He then attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London as well as the High Institute of Tourism and Hotels. Selim began his acting career in 1972 with the film Embratoreyyet Meem and landed his first main part in 1976 with Awdat Al Ibn Al Dhaal. For almost 50 years, he worked in the cinema and television industries, acting in films and series such as Al Nazer, Enta Omri, Harb El Gawasis, Khaina Mashroaa, Leqaa ala el-hawa, Hoanem Garden City, Arabesque, Layaly Al Helmiya, El Raya El Beeda, and others. In May 2020, he went on a public program in Egypt advocating LGBT+ rights and stated that he had a transgender son.

Hesham was the son of renowned footballer Saleh Selim. El Maestro was Saleh’s nickname for the manner he guided the Al Ahly football club to victory. He rose through the ranks to become squad manager and member of the club’s board of directors. Despite his prominence, there is little information regarding Hesham’s career accessible.
