Grant Hochstein began figure skating at the age of nine. He quickly fell in love with athletics. Later, in 2009, he began his professional career as a figure skater at the junior level at the 2009 U.S. Championships. He finished third in the tournament and received a pewter medal. In the 2009-2010 season, he competed in the ISU Junior Grand Pix. During the season, he finished second at the Budapest event. In addition, he finished fourth in Dresden.
