GOT7’s Jay B Departs From H1GHR Music After His Contract Expires With The Agency

GOT7’s Jay B is said to have departed H1GHR music after his contract with the label ended. On July 25, H1GHR Music announced the departure of two of its musicians, Jay B and rapper Sik-K, through Instagram. According to the post, both musicians are departing since their contracts have ended. On the same day, Jay B was welcomed by the fresh new music company CDNZA Records in a tweet. Jay B is also the company’s first talent to sign a contract.

Jay B’s resignation was disclosed shortly after H1GHR posted a teaser for a project dubbed ‘Be Right Back.’ Jay B, BIG NAUGHTY, Cha Cha Malone, GroovyRoom, HAON, Jay Park, pH-1, TRADE L, and Park Hyun Jin all contributed to this tune. The same was made available on July 27 at 6 p.m. KST.

Fans were taken aback by the GOT7 leader’s decision to quit the agency he had just joined a year before. 2021 was a watershed moment for GOT7 since the members not only departed JYP Entertainment but also remained a part of the group. Leader Jay B was also successful in acquiring the group’s trademark from JYP. Both the GOT7 leader and Yugyeom signed with singer/rapper Jay Park’s agencies, H1GHR music, and AOMG entertainment.

Fans predict a big reorganization in the music industry when Jay B and Sik-K quit H1GHR music.

GOT7 frontman and Sik-K parted ways with H1GHR music on July 25, and although the former has partnered with CDNZA records, Sik-K has yet to disclose his intentions. Fans are concerned about recent changes at the agency, which was recently bought by CJENM, a South Korean entertainment and mass media giant. Jay Park also stated earlier this year that he will be stepping down as CEO of H1GHR music and AOMG. The rapper continues to serve as a counselor to them. Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone founded H1GHR music in 2017 to establish a more worldwide-oriented label in addition to the Korean-focused AOMG.

Aside from the founders, the firm employed artists such as Yultron, Sik-K, pH-1, and Avatar Darko. As a result, it came as a surprise when Sik-K, one of the label’s original artists, announced his departure shortly after Jay Park stepped down as CEO. Sik-K joined the agency in 2017 after appearing in the rap competition series Show Me The Money 4.

Fans have also expressed concern over rapper pH-1, who may be departing the label as well. The suspicions started after pH-1 removed all of his Instagram postings and posted some tales on his Instagram account claiming,

“I know it’s time to say goodbye when people start taking me for granted.”

He also wrote in a second narrative,

“There are many reasons why my record will not be released. At least not right now. You will not be disappointed if you stick with me. Thank you, my admirers.”

At the same time, the musician reassured fans and asked that no rumors be spread. He also made a similar joke with Jay Park. Jay B joined H1GHR music when his contract with JYP Entertainment expired. He made his solo debut with the tune Switch it Up, a sensual R&B song featuring South Korean rapper Sokodomo. He then released his first EP SOLO: FUME. Under Warner Music Korea, the artist released his first physical EP Love. In June 2022, he also conducted his first ever fan meet, NOSTALGIC.
