Vikings: Valhalla, the highly anticipated spin-off to the fan-favorite History Channel series Vikings, debuted on the popular streaming site Netflix on February 25. Jeb Stuart invented the action-adventure historical program. Since Vikings: Valhalla debuted on Netflix, the main actors’ promising acting talents have received much praise from fans and reviewers alike. The story is on Leif Eriksson, the renowned explorer played by Sam Corlett, his sister Freydis Eriksdotter, played brilliantly by Frida Gustavsson, and Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson, played by Leo Suter. Because of the popularity of Vikings: Valhalla, Gustavsson’s previous modeling career has come to light, and the actress has revealed her body image concerns before modeling.

Pursuing a career in the entertainment business is a scary and stressful venture. Frida Gustavsson, on the other hand, not only faced those problems front-on and succeeded in forging a successful career as a model, but she also dared to leave them behind when she was at her height to pursue her greatest desire of becoming an actress. Frida is now enjoying the release of Vikings: Valhalla. She also took the time to share some intriguing details about her modeling and acting professions.
In a recent Collider interview, the actress said that she has always wanted to be an actor:
“I’ve always enjoyed performing and being in front of an audience. So I used to perform when I was younger. I was in theatrical lessons, and when I hit puberty, I went from being a tiny kid to becoming extraordinarily tall, like a stick figure, and I struggled with that.”
Before joining the modeling industry, the 28-year-old allegedly said that she did not feel comfortable in her skin and was insecure. Frida shared her concerns regarding body image and how it made her feel horrible about herself:
“I didn’t feel at ease in my own skin. In school, all the girls had boobs, but I was simply straight, and I didn’t feel very good about myself. So I lost my confidence in standing in front of people and saying, ‘Look at me!'”
Frida Gustavsson described how she was surprisingly granted a modeling job. She couldn’t quite believe it. However, after discussing it with her father, the actress decided that it would be an excellent chance for her to break out of her shell and show the world what she’s capable of:
“And, by some divine intervention, someone had a plan for me to cope with all of it, so I was scouted in Ikea eating meatballs. [Laughs] The most Swedish thing I’ve ever seen! When they initially approached me, they said, ‘Oh, do you want to be a model?’ ‘What?’ I thought as I choked on my meatball. I chatted with my father, who was there, and we agreed that it could be a good idea for me to attempt to break out of my shell and become more comfortable with myself.”

Frida and her father’s predictions were accurate, as her modeling career took off quickly. She has appeared in numerous prominent fashion shows, including those for Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, and Jean-Paul Gaultier. She was also selected as Elle Sweden’s Model of the Year in 2011. Her modeling career was flourishing, but her heart desired something different. During the interview, Frida added:
“I’ve always wanted to be an actor. I’ve always had this sense within that said, ‘This is the one thing I believe I’ll ever be genuinely excellent at.’ This is the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do.’ But I also have so much respect for the craft, and I think coming from a modeling background, sometimes people look at you in a certain way, and it can be difficult to be taken seriously at times, so I was very aware that transitioning into acting in the way that I wanted to act wasn’t going to be an easy road.”
