He used to engage in many gospel groups and was an enthusiastic member of them. Fred is presently signed to Verity Records as a solo artist, and he is well-known for garnering Dove, Grammy, and Stellar awards, as well as being nominated as a producer, composer, and singer. He was originally noticed as a bass guitarist for the Winans gospel group, then as one of the original six members of the commissioned group in 1985, and has appeared on 10 of the group’s 12 albums.
But his relationship didn’t last long, and their partnership ended. His musical ensemble Radical For Christ sold millions of copies, and it was the album that helped him gain prominence in the gospel world. In 2002, he returned to the Commissioned group and produced the commissioned reunion live CD.
