Franco Gatti rose to prominence after forming the band Ricchi e Poveri. Mr. Franco Califano, a Roman composer, came up with the band name. His band was well-known for producing songs in the bass, tenor, alto, and soprano ranges.
He traveled to many new nations to play on stage with his bandmates Angela Brambati, Angelo Sotgiu, and Marina Occhiena. His debut appearance with his band was at Cantagiro in 1968. His band finished 12th in the 1978 Eurovision Song Contest. Marina Occhiena departed the band in 1981 and went on to pursue a solo career. Franco and his pop group mates also recorded Spanish songs.
