Christina Tosi became a judge on MasterChef USA in its sixth season, which premiered on FOX on May 20, 2015. She then presented and judged MasterChef Junior. She first appeared on the program in its fourth season, which premiered on November 6, 2015. Tosi participated as a frequent judge on both cookery series and earned a devoted following. As a consequence, her followers were taken aback when she abruptly quit the show.
“She was my favorite judge by far, and having a baker as one of the judges was great,” one admirer said on a Reddit post devoted to her departure. “Her innate sweetness developed wonderful chemistry with several of the contenders in S8,” another person said. While some fans expressed how much they would miss Tosi on the reality show, others questioned why she departed in the first place. So,
What Caused Christina Tosi’s Departure From MasterChef USA?
Tosi was never intended to be the permanent judge of the cookery shows; it turns out. She had entered the race to replace the position left vacant by Joe Bastianich. “After many enjoyable years as a judge on MasterChef and MasterChef Junior, I have chosen not to return,” Bastianich said in November 2014, announcing his departure from the contests. He said that he would devote his time and efforts to expanding his company as a co-owner of Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group.
Bastianich made a reappearance in the programs years after the announcement. He made an appearance on MasterChef USA’s season 8 finale. He later returned to MasterChef Junior season 6 and MasterChef USA season 9 as a permanent judge. Tosi resigned as the third judge upon his return. Having said that, she did serve as a guest judge in the ninth season.
Christina Tosi on Becoming a Judge on ‘MasterChef USA’
Before leaving the show, Tosi told Entertainment Weekly that competing in the culinary competition felt “untouchable and fantastic.” According to her stories, she had been a long-time follower of MasterChef. She used to watch the program on purpose because she adored witnessing how much passion home chefs had for food. “For some reason, I’ve always found it to be the right combination of exhilarating, stimulating, demanding, and emotional,” she continued.
Tosi was driving in her vehicle when her buddy, a CAA agent, contacted her and asked if she wanted to work on the program. “Of course, I panicked out,” the famous baker recalled. She went on to say that she had to “imagine moving from love watching it to loving being a part of it” in a very short amount of time. Tosi went on the show alongside her co-hosts, Gordon Ramsay and Graham Elliot, after a quick screen test and preparation on how to convey her comments and feedback. She said that she got along well with Ramsay. She thought they were on the same page, even though they did things differently in the kitchen.
