“Extrapolations” Is Set To Release On AppleTV+

Extrapolations will debut on AppleTV+ on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 3 a.m. ET (tentative time). The first three episodes will be broadcast on the planned date, with one new episode released every Friday until April 21. This anthology series will utilize linked tales to show the consequences of climate change on Earth from a variety of perspectives.

Extrapolations have a stellar cast. It stars Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Tahar Rahim, Matthew Rhys, Daveed Diggs, Gemma Chan, David Schwimmer, Adarsh Gourav, Forest Whitaker, Marion Cotillard, and Tobey Maguire. They are accompanied by Eiza González, Edward Norton, Indira Varma, Keri Russell, Cherry Jones, Michael Gandolfini, Murray Bartlett, Yara Shahidi, Diane Lane, Heather Graham, Ben Harper, Judd Hirsch, Hari Nef, Devika Bhise, Aimee Mullins, Peter Riegert, Cherien Dabis, Ma Maestro, and Tara Summers. Let’s take a deeper look at everything we know about the highly anticipated concert.

Extrapolations highlight a future in which survival is the only goal.

Extrapolations tell eight interrelated tales spanning 33 years. The common thread running across these tales is the negative impact of climate change on employment, family, relationships, and human lives. The whole program will be dystopian, with humanity’s destiny dangling on a thread. Its first glimpse was unveiled on January 19, 2023. Here’s the official trailer for the next concert.

The official summary of the program is as follows:

“Extrapolations is a riveting drama from writer, director, and executive producer Scott Z. Burns that depicts a near future in which the unpredictable impacts of climate change have been ingrained in our daily lives. Eight intertwined tales of love, work, religion, and family from across the world will examine the personal, life-altering decisions that must be made when the earth is changing faster than the people.”

It goes on:

“Every tale is unique, but the struggle for our future is common. And, with humanity’s existence on the line, the conflict between bravery and complacency has never been more pressing. Are we bold enough to become the answer to our own undoing before it’s too late?”

The teaser doesn’t reveal much, but viewers can anticipate some spectacular images as well as some outstanding performances and cinematography. Scott Z. Burns created Extrapolations. It’s directed by Burns and Ellen Kuras. Executive producers include Michael Ellenberg, Dorothy Fortenberry, Scott Z. Burns, Gregory Jacobs, and Lindsey Springer.

Meet Extrapolations director Scott Z. Burns.

Burns started his career in advertising and eventually became a TV ads director. He was also a member of the team that created the iconic “Got Milk?” commercial campaign. Burns is recognized with scripts for films including The Bourne Ultimatum, The Informant!, and Contagion, all of which star Matt Damon. He also produced the Academy Award-winning film An Inconvenient Truth. His major break in filmmaking came in 2019 with the publication of The Report, a drama starring Adam Driver about a covert torture program within the CIA.

Extrapolations

In 2007, he directed an episode of the comedy-drama program Californication titled Filthy Lucre. Burns is recognized as the showrunner, director, writer, and executive producer of the next Apple TV+ program.
