Erick Dampier began professionally playing basketball in 1996 and retired in 2012. He began his professional basketball career after being picked by the Indiana Pacers in the 1996 NBA draft. On August 12, 1997, he was dealt to the Golden State Warriors after appearing in 72 games with the Pacers.
He was a member of the Warriors until 2004, averaging 12.3 points, 12 rebounds, and 1.85 blocks per game. On August 24, 2004, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he averaged 9.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.85 blocks per game in his first season. He was transferred to the Charlotte Bobcats on July 13, 2010, but was quickly dismissed on September 14, 2010.
Dampier signed a deal with the Miami Heat on November 23, 2010, after his club had lost the 2011 NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks.
