She was tipped to be the next big female star in Hollywood, as she appeared to possess the necessary qualities.
But, as quickly as Cuthbert arrived, she vanished from view and was unable to reclaim her place at the top.
Elisha Cuthbert’s Rise to Stardom
The film The Girl Next Door gave Cuthbert his big break in the industry. Danielle, a former porn star fleeing her heinous past, was played by the actress.
Her portrayal of the lovely girl next door was well-received, and she was even dubbed “TV’s Most Beautiful Woman” at the time.
Cuthbert went on to star in the 2005 remake of House of Wax and the 2007 film Captivity after The Girl Next Door.
Happy Endings, which aired on ABC for three seasons, was her first project in the decade. The show was a critical success and a fan favorite, but it was unfortunately canceled.
Following that, fans didn’t see much of the Captivity actress.
Elisha Cuthbert’s Resurrection
Despite her disappearance from the spotlight, it appears that the actress is planning a comeback. Cuthbert has recently appeared in films such as 2017’s Goon: Last of the Enforcers and Netflix’s The Ranch.
Before it was canceled from the streaming service, she was one of the main characters in the Ashton Kutcher/Sam Elliott-led series.
The actress’s Netflix contract may have ended, but she has no plans to slow down anytime soon. She also appeared in Eat Wheaties! with Tony Hale and hosted Canada’s Drag Race as a guest host.
In terms of her future projects, The Cellar, which is currently in post-production, is said to be a return to her horror roots.
She’ll also star alongside Josh Duhamel and Mel Gibson in the heist thriller Bandit. The action-release thriller’s date, however, has yet to be determined.
Philanthropic Activities of Elisha Cuthbert
When she is not working on a project, the actress volunteers for good causes. The actress has worked on projects for the Special Olympics and their sporting event, the virtual 5K walk/run.
She’s also a long-time supporter of the Enriching Lives Gala, which raises money for “grassroots programming, quality competitions, trained coaches, and much more for athletes of all ages and abilities.”
Aside from Special Olympics, the Happy Endings actress volunteers for Tim Hortons Camp Day, a fundraiser that aims to provide transformative programs and life-changing skills to youth from low-income families.
She teamed up with Tims for a coffee drive-thru fundraiser in 2018.
She explained to SaltWire, “In the hour I was here, so many people came through. It’s also a great place to be because you’re simply interacting with your peers. Then there’s the added bonus of being able to raise funds for all of the camps.” She went on to say that the event was a fantastic idea and that, as a mother, she was honored to be a part of it.
