Ed Catmull Biography
Edwin Catmull was born on March 31, 1945, in Parkersburg, West Virginia. His father, who raised him and his four siblings, was the high school principal. In his early years, he was less interested in movies and more interested in math, physics, and computer science. However, he had always wished to meet Walt Disney.

Ed Catmull received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah. For a short time, he worked as a computer programmer at The Boeing Company in Seattle. Career
In 1979, Catmull moved to northern California to work for Lucasfilm Ltd. The studio, named after its founder, Star Wars executive George Lucas, was also interested in producing a completely PC-enlivened element film. Catmull was brought in to establish this division.
