Dre Greenlaw was raised in group homes and shelters in Arkansas from the age of eight. of 14, he met Brian Early, the defensive coach of Fayetteville High School. Greenlaw was asked to live with the Early family, and at the age of 21, he was legally adopted.
Greenlaw attended Fayetteville Public Schools and played on the Fayetteville High School football team, which won the Class 7A state title in 2011. He was chosen to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s preseason “Super Sophomore” team in 2012.
