DJ Tiesto is preparing to become a parent for the second time. On April 4, the famed DJ revealed on Instagram that he and his wife Annika Backes are expecting their second child. The singer, real name Tijs Michiel Verwest, announced the news with images of himself and Annika at the recent 64th Annual Grammy Awards when the latter flaunted her baby belly on the red carpet. Tijs placed his hand on Annika’s tummy in one photo and kissed her belly in another.

Annika Backes, who was born on September 7, 1996, is a model best known as the wife of DJ Tiesto. Elite Model Management represents the Colorado native, who frequently travels to different locations for work. She has walked the catwalk at major fashion events such as NYC Fashion Week and has been on the covers of publications such as Luxuriant and Inlove.
She was spotted in a mall by a talent scout and has named Alexander Wang as her favorite designer. Backes is 25 years old and grew up in Denver, Colorado. Annika and Tijs initially met in 2015 at Catch restaurant in New York City. They got engaged during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2018, and Backes told Vogue:
“We began hanging out for a few months, and when Coachella rolled around, we decided the day before we were going to go together. We spent the weekend, just the two of us, roaming around the festival and having the finest time. We both knew when we didn’t grow weary of one other for a second and even traveled back to New York City and still didn’t want to leave each other.”

The couple married in 2019 and are expecting their first child, Viola Margreet Verwest, in November 2020. The couple initially revealed their daughter by posting images of her on social media in the same month.
