They later relocated to Linthicum, where she attended Andover High School and graduated in 1969. She became interested in the medical field during her childhood, so she attended Anne Arundel Community College and graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing. She later transferred to Belmont University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1991. She was the first in her family to complete formal education.
