Deven, the wide receiver who handled everything well, found it difficult to remain a student while caring for his kid. Thompkins’ family lived together until the summer of his junior year when Maria brought both children back to Florida for a brief time. When Deven needed to care for Nyomi during their summer stay, he would bring her to his university, and his instructors would hold Nyomi for him during the lecture.
Maria went to California to study medicine, while Nyomi resided with her and Messiah lived with his father. Thompkins juggled parenting, football, and a full-time academic schedule while receiving just a tuition stipend. When he was able to attend all of his classes online, he was able to remain at home for part of the day and babysit his kid. Furthermore, his teammates, especially former Jefferson High receiver Justin McGriff, took turns babysitting him regularly.
In several sessions, Messiah would slumber or drink a bottle in the back of the room with his father, according to Cefalo. Remembering all the times, Thompkins wants to be more than simply the greatest football player he can be; he also wishes to be the best parent he can be for his children.
