Career

Derrick began his professional football career with the Yulee Hornets as a running back. He rushed for 2,465 yards and 26 touchdowns as a freshman in 2009. He was named first-team All-Coast running back in 2010 after rushing for 2,788 yards and 38 touchdowns on an average of 8.9 yards per attempt. Additionally, he had 111 rushing yards and his first college rushing touchdown in a 52–0 victory over Arkansas on October 19. He also had six carries for 66 yards and his season-high second rushing touchdown against Chattanooga on November 23. Henry split time in the backfield with T. J. Yeldon during the 2014 season.

Henry took over as the lead running back after Yeldon went for the NFL as a junior in 2015. Additionally, on May 9, 2016, the Tennessee Titans signed Henry to a four-year, $5.40 million deal with a guaranteed $3.30 million and a $2.13 million signing bonus. He began his debut season as a backup running back to DeMarco Murray. He wore the No. 2 jerseys throughout training camp.
