Career
Derek Lalonde started his coaching career in 1995 as an assistant coach at North Adams State College. He has worked as an Assistant Coach for Hamilton College, Lebanon Valley College, and the College of Liberal Arts in the NCAA III conference. He began representing schools and institutions in the NCAA conference in 2002. He has worked as an assistant coach for the NCAA at Ferris State University and the University of Denver.
Derek was hired as the General Manager and Head Coach of the USHL League in 2011. (United States Hockey League). From 2011 until 2014, he was the head coach of the USHL. He has a 114-56-8-6 record while coaching the Green Gay Gamblers of the USHL League. In 2012, Gambler produced a 47-9-2-2 record and won the game’s fourth Clark Cup triumph, earning him the USH coach of the year honor.
In 2014, he was named head coach of the Toledo Walley of the ECHL (Eastern Collegiate Hockey League.) Under his direction, the Toledo Walleye went 97-35-7-5 and won two straight Brabham Cups as ECHL regular-season champions.
