Delroy George Lindo was born in London, England on November 18, 1952. His parents were both Jamaicans. His father worked multiple jobs, and his mother was a nurse. Delroy grew up in Eltham and used to perform in the school nativity play.
He moved to the United States when he was 16 and settled in San Francisco. He later attended the American Conservatory Theater to study acting. Lindo also holds a bachelor’s degree in film from San Francisco State University. He received his master’s degree from New York University.
