In the early 1990s, he began his career in the acting industry. He played rebel leader Sir Ralph Ellerker in Seasons 3 and 4 of the Showtime series The Tudors. He appeared in Six Characters in Search of an Author at Dublin’s Abbey Theatre, As You Like It with Galway’s Druid Theatre Company, and Juno and the Paycock in London’s West End.

Following that, he appeared in the Atlantic Theater Company’s 2006 off-Broadway production, which ultimately relocated to Broadway. He also played Dr. Ed Costello in sixteen episodes of RTÉ’s The Clinic.
