Career
He spent a few days in Nashville when he was 20 and was encouraged to pursue a career in music. He afterward relocated to Music City and began performing at parties. There, he piqued the interest of record producer Keith Stegall’s daughter. David earned a deal with Mercury Records when she informed her father that he had a talent worth hearing.
He released his debut single, “Memphis,” in 2002, and although the song charted on the Country Singles charts, Mercury elected not to release the album he recorded for them, and he quickly lost his record contract. In April 2007, he signed with MCA Records Nashville. All of this was made possible by producer Frank Liddell. And “I’m About to Come Alive,” Nail’s first MCA single, was released in 2008, and it was better than his first song. However, his following song, ‘Red Light,’ released in February 2009, climbed at number seven on the national singles charts, earning Nail a gold record.
Nail made an album for MCA after the success of the song, and this time, 2009’s I’m About to Come Alive was considered worthy of release, climbing to number 19 on the country album charts. Similarly, in February 2011, Nail released “Let It Rain,” which went on to become his first number-one country song. Nail had another major hit song, ‘Whatever She’s Got,’ in 2013, which won him a platinum sales award. It was his first single off his third MCA album, 2014’s I’m a Fire, which debuted at number three on the country album charts. David has since released two more singles, both of which have been successful. Nail revealed a new project as the frontman of David Nail & The Well Ravens in 2018. Only This And Nothing More, the band’s first album, will be released independently on September 14, 2018.
