David Greenberg became the next CEO of L’Oreal USA on February 25, 2022. He was also named President of the North America Zone and a company executive committee member. Taking over for Stéphane Rinderknech, who departed the firm after two years in the post, David will manage the group after 28 years at the L’Oreal company in various leadership capacities, previously working across brands, markets, divisions, and functions.

David Greenberg is a valued champion for the North American beauty sector at Loreal. He has proved himself via the business model transition of L’Oreal’s North American product division since April 2017. David has also served on the Personal Care Product Council (PCPC) boards, the Fashion Institute of Technology’s (FIT) Industry Advisory Board, the School of Graduate Studies in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing & Management, and the nation’s top industry trade group.

L’Oreal’s current global CEO, Nicolas Hieronimus, remarked on David’s appointment, stating,
“I’ve known David for a long time. David was a key architect in L’Oréal’s ascension to market leadership in the United States, and he continues to lead with the same entrepreneurial, inventive, and competitive spirit. He is an effective team builder. I am extremely happy to appoint the first American to lead the North America Zone and to serve on the Executive Committee of our Groupe. “North America Zone is one of our most important growth engines, and David is the appropriate individual to lead our team and company to new heights,” Nicolas stated.
During his five-year career at L’Oreal, David oversaw the expansion of SalonCentric and updated the product company into an omnichannel and digital operation. Before becoming CEO, David was president of Garnier, Maybelline, and Essie at L’Oreal USA’s Consumer Products business for eight years, after which he led marketing for the L’Oreal Paris brand for six years.
David Greenberg took on the tough post of Chief Human Resources Officer in 2005, demonstrating his abilities in developing people and generating highly engaged teams. After earning a Bachelor of Business/Managerial Economics degree from Lehigh University in 1980-1984 and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business in 1989-1991, he worked as a brand manager for Unilever for two years, from July 1991 to July 1993.
