Fifita played for the Wests Tigers NYC squad in 2009. In 2010, he and his brother both played for Tonga. In 2011, he joined the Balmain Ryde-Eastwood Tigers and Western Suburbs Magpies in the New South Wales Cup. At the end of 2012, he joined the Lézignan Sangliers in the Elite One Championship. After finishing his season with Lézignan in June 2013, he drew the interest of two NRL clubs, the Melbourne Storm and the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

The Sharks, where his twin brother Andrew played in the 2013 NRL season, finally gave him a contract to finish the season. After featuring in six games for the Sharks in the NSW Cup, he re-signed with them for 2014. Fifita was a member of the 2013 NSW Cup title squad, which beat Windsor Wolves 38-6 in the final.
