Darlene Brister Is Charged With Murder Following The Assault And Stabbing Of Her Children

Darlene Brister, 40, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and stabbing her children. Brister is now facing murder charges after Paulding County authorities received a report of a home fire in which a lady was gravely injuring her children. According to Paulding County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tyler McSwain, the terrible events occurred at 9:20 p.m. inside a residence in the 700 block of Woodwind Drive in Rockmart, West Paulding. Firefighters from Paulding County responded to a complaint of a fatal fire on Woodwind Drive. When they arrived, they allegedly discovered seven children, two of whom were unconscious and three of whom were injured. The remaining two were completely unharmed.

 

Three of the youngsters were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where two of them were subsequently confirmed dead, bringing the death toll to four. Another youngster who had been brought to the hospital was discharged with minor injuries.

Darlene Brister was apprehended by police at the site of the incident. She was subsequently charged with two counts of murder with malice and is expected to face more charges.

At 9 p.m. on Friday, Paulding County officials got a report regarding fire and domestic dispute. Officials were notified that the home was on fire and that Darlene Brister, 40, was attempting to harm her children. Firefighters battled the flames and proceeded inside the house to look for the children. Two of the children were confirmed dead at the spot, while three others were brought to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

McSwain said in a news release:

“Investigators worked tirelessly to make sense of the chaotic situation.”

Residents are unable to comprehend the catastrophe that has transpired, resulting in the loss of innocent people. One of the inhabitants told reporters that some of the neighbors tried to assist some of the youngsters to escape out of the house while others attempted to leap through a second-story window. Meanwhile, some neighbors referred to Darlene Brister’s aggressive deed as “selfish” and “self-centered.”

WAGA cited a neighbor as saying:

“I don’t know who would do it to their children.”

Authorities emphasized that the probe will continue even after Brister was detained. The inquiry will be led by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Darlene Brister is now being held without bail, and her first court appearance is planned for Monday morning at 9 a.m.
