Beverly Ann Merril was born on July 29, 1962, in Wayne, New Jersey, to a 15-year-old Sicilian mother. She was adopted and raised in Pennsylvania, however. Staub revealed in her autobiography, The Naked Truth, that she was sexually abused by multiple relatives when she was eight years old. However, she started fighting back at the age of 11.
