From 1995 to 1999, Bongino was a member of the New York City Police Department. In 1999, he became a special agent with the United States Secret Service. He began teaching at the Secret Service Training Academy in Beltsville, Maryland, in 2002. During George W. Bush’s presidency, Bongino joined the United States Presidential Protection Division in 2006. He remained on protective duty until May 2011, when Barack Obama was elected President and ran for the United States Senate.
