Damon Gillespie And Grace Aki Have Initiated A Battle Of Lawsuits Against Each Other

Damon Gillespie

Damon Gillespie and Grace Aki, a former couple, have filed lawsuits against one other. They divorced in July 2021, just three years after exchanging vows in October 2018. A month before, Aki had discussed domestic abuse on her podcast, “Tell Me On A Sunday,” and revealed her personal experience with it. Gillespie was accused of physical and emotional abuse against her. Gillespie launched a lawsuit against his ex-wife in reaction to the charges, saying that her podcast lost his jobs and harmed his image.

Grace Aki filed a counter-suit over Gillespie’s accusations late last week. According to court documents, she did not refer to the actor by name in the podcast, instead of calling him “husband” and other derogatory terms such as “monster, abusive, egotistical, arrogant, entitled a***ole.”

Grace alleges in her statement that she was unaware of Gillespie’s nature until 2019 when she “began to understand that the guy she married had suppressed terrible personality qualities from her.”

During their time together, Gillespie allegedly mistreated and verbally tormented her. She claimed that in order to avoid Gillespie, she locked herself in her room and sent SOS texts to her pals. She said that when he found out, he yanked open the door and yanked her out of bed to threaten her. He also left their home early during the epidemic and was gone for months before returning, according to her.

Valdi Licul, Aki’s lawyer, believes that Gillespie’s case against her was frivolous and was simply intended to scare her. She stated:

“His suit is without foundation. He intends to sue her in order to silence her.”

She explained that it is known as a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation, or SLAPP.

The following is from Wikipedia:

“A strategic lawsuit against public participation (SLAPP), SLAPP suit, or intimidation lawsuit is meant to suppress, intimidate, and silence opponents by putting them through the expense of a legal defense until they renounce their criticism or opposition.”

Gillespie has refuted the charges and said that Grace Aki’s podcast has already harmed his career. He went on to say that his publicist and agency had dismissed him as a result of the charges made in the podcast and the negative attention it brought him. He also said that he had been threatened on social media.

Gillespie’s lawyer refused to comment on the case, saying:

“I make it a point not to try my cases in the press; all I have to say is in the court documents.” “Neither I nor my customer will remark.”
