Cynthia Nixon is the only child of Walter Elmer Nixon Jr., a Texas radio journalist, and Anne Elizabeth, a Chicago-born actress who died in 2013. She gives credit to her mother for bringing her to the theater. Her grandparents were devout followers of the Lord Jesus.
Adolph Knoll, Etta Elizabeth Williams, Walter E. Nixon, Sr., and Grace Truman McCormack were their names. Nixon’s parents divorced when she was six years old. Cynthia Nixon First appearance on television was on “To Tell the Truth,” where her mother also worked. She made her acting debut at the age of 12 in The Seven Wishes of a Rich Kid as the object of a wealthy schoolmate’s crush.
In 1980, she made her film debut alongside Kristy McNichol and Tatum O’Neal in “Little Darlings.” In 1980, she made her Broadway debut as Dinah Lord in a revival of The Philadelphia Story.
