Stewart was competing in her seventh Miss Texas USA pageant, having been first runner-up in both 2006 and 2007, third runner-up in 2005, and reaching the semi-finals in 2003. Stewart competed as Miss Fort Bend County again in 2004, becoming third runner-up to Tyler Willis at Miss Texas USA 2005.
