Colman Domingo made his film début as Trace in Around The Fire, alongside Eric Mabius and Tara Reid. Domingo starred as Mr. Franklin Jones, Mr. Venus, and Joop in the highly praised rock opera Passing Strange, which premiered at The Public Theater and then moved to Broadway on February 28, 2008. Colman Domingo received an Obie Award as a part of the Off-Broadway production of Passing Strange in the spring of 2008. Colmans’ film adaptation of Passing Strange, directed by Spike Lee, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2009.
